What is Global Positioning System (GPS)?

How does GPS work?

How to use GPS?

Using GPS is relatively straightforward. Here are the basic steps:

1. Obtain a GPS receiver: GPS receivers come in various forms, including handheld devices, smartphones, and vehicle navigation systems. Choose a receiver that suits your needs.

2. Activate the GPS receiver: Depending on the device, you may need to turn on the GPS receiver or enable location services on your smartphone.

3. Establish a clear view of the sky: GPS signals are easily obstructed by buildings, trees, or other obstacles. To get an accurate signal, ensure your receiver has a clear view of the sky, preferably in an open area.

4. Wait for satellite signals: Once the receiver is active and has a clear view of the sky, it will start searching for GPS satellite signals. This might take a few moments, so be patient.

5. Determine your position: Once the GPS receiver establishes a connection with the satellites and calculates your position, it will display your latitude, longitude, and often your altitude.

6. Utilize GPS features: GPS receivers offer additional features like waypoints, routes, and maps. You can use these features to set destinations, track your movements, and navigate to specific locations.
