What is UPoE?

UPoE-compatible devices negotiate with the network switch to determine the power requirements and capabilities. If a device is UPoE-compatible, it can request a higher power allocation from the switch, ensuring that it receives the necessary power for its operation.

One of the major benefits of UPoE is its backward compatibility with PoE and PoE+ devices. UPoE switches can power all of these devices without any issues, albeit at the lower power levels supported by PoE and PoE+.
